Meanwhile, as the havoc of rain is likely to continue for two more days, the engineers and employees of MSEDCL in Pune circle have been instructed to be alert to take measures regarding smooth power supply and power safety.

Due to heavy rains on Monday night, the NIBM area, Sahyadri Park, Salunkhe Vihar, Kondhwa, JK Park, Kumar Prithvi, Kakadevasti, Nandadeep Society, Kausarbagh, some areas of Tilekarnagar, Serena Society, Dagdevasti, Dharmawat Petrol Pump Area, Sankala Society, Shantiban, Saibabanagar, and other areas as well as Gangadham, Bhilarewadi, Katraj, ISKCON temple area, Sahakarnagar, Valvekarnagar and other areas of Padmavati division were disrupted due to water accumulation near the power system.

Rainwater accumulated in these areas. Water entered roadside feeder pillars, ring main units as well as meter boxes of many societies and houses. In some places, large tree branches fell on the power system. Also, the electricity supply to about 77,000 customers in Parvati, Bundgarden division including Rastapeth and Padmavati was cut off due to the shutdown of the power supply by MSEDCL as a safety measure.

However, the engineers and employees of MSEDCL worked throughout the night in the rain and restored power supply to about 70,500 customers till 8 o’clock in the morning. About 6500 consumers on the remaining 22 Rohitras are being restored till evening. However, as the water accumulated in the low-lying areas was not being drained, it was difficult to restore the power supply. Also, the power supply that was disrupted in some other parts of the city due to the cloudburst-like rain that occurred last night has also been restored.
