Pune 18th Oct 2023: The scrutiny of pending cases related to property tax between the citizens and the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has revealed that many citizens have not paid their taxes by giving reasons of ongoing cases at the court. The civic officials found that around 186 property owners in the list do not have a stay order from the government to pay their tax to the municipal corporation but they still avoided paying the taxes.

The Municipal Corporation has now started identifying these properties and they are being seized as per the law following a long history of non-payment of pending property tax. The officials have already seized several properties that were due to pay tax worth Rs 4 Crore and said that further action against the remaining properties will also follow. The municipal corporation recently scrutinised the pending cases in the court since many of these cases are pending for over 20 years and the administration was not aware of the current status of the dispute matters.
