Pune Customs seize 62 Kg ganja worth Rs three lakhs
Pune – The officers of Pune customs department Thursday seized 62.340 kg worth Rs three lakhs at Loni Kalbhor toll plaza.
The driver Irfan Gaus Sayyed, a native of Osmanabad district, had concealed ganja in the boot (dikki) of the vehicle.
The vehicle was coming from Paranda (Osmanabad) to Pune. The customs officials intercepted the vehicle and the driver at Loni Kalbhor toll plaza near Hadapsar.
The ganja was recovered from the vehicle and seized under the the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985 as possessing, carrying, transporting narcotics and psychotropic substance is an offence under the NDPS Act.
This is the third case of ganja detected by Pune customs in last two months and 275 kg ganja valued at Rs 11 75 lakhs ( approx) has been seized, Deputy Commissioner (Customs) Mahesh Patil.
