Pune Crime Branch takes action against 265 shops for illegally selling tobacco products

Pune, July 31, 2019 : The officials from various units of Pune city police Crime Branch have launched crackdown on illegal activities. Accordingly in last two days, cases were filed against 265 shops/paan stalls for illegally selling tobacco products across the city.

The crackdown has been ordered by Pune Police Commissioner Dr K Venkatesham and Jt CP (law and order) Ravindra Shisve.

The Crime Branch units under supervision of Additional CP (crime) Ashok Morale and DCP (crime) Bachchan Singh took action under relevant sections of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 or COTPA, 2003, on July 29 and 30.

The units were led by Police Inspectors Gajendra Pawar, Arun Waikar, Rajendra Mokashi, Datta Chavan, Anjum Bagwan, Rajendra Mohite, Tikole.
