Pune: Crackdown on Illegal Liquor Sale in Khandala Ahead of New Year

Lonavala, 30th December 2023: In a determined effort to curb illegal activities within the Lonavla sub-division, Assistant Superintendent of Police Satyasai Karthik orchestrated a successful operation against the illicit liquor trade in Khandala. The operation, executed by the Detection Branch (DB) team under his command, took place on December 29, 2023.

The vigilant law enforcement officer received information from a confidential informant, revealing the unlawful sale of liquor by an individual known as Ajay alias Baba Jambhulkar in the Khandala area, under the jurisdiction of the Lonavala City Police Station. Recognizing the potential harm this illegal trade could inflict on the local youth, Assistant Superintendent of Police Satyasai Karthik directed his team to take immediate action.

The DB team conducted a raid at the specified location in Khandala. The target, Ajay alias Baba Jambhulkar, was apprehended, and a thorough search uncovered a stock of illegal liquor intended for sale. The confiscated liquor, valued at Rs. 10,895, was seized as evidence of the unlawful activity.

In response to the police complaint, a case has been registered at the Lonavala City Police Station under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, 1949.

This successful operation is part of Assistant Superintendent of Police Satyasai Karthik’s broader initiative to crack down on illegal businesses and criminal activities within the Lonavla sub-division.

The Lonavala City Police acknowledge the valuable contributions of Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal, Additional Superintendent of Police Mitesh Ghatte, Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Raul, Constable Shubham Chavan, Constable Bharat Bhosale, Constable Nitesh (Bunty) Kawade, and Constable Raees Mulani, who played pivotal roles in the success of this operation.
