Pune: Court Orders FIR Against Animal Husbandry Officer For Alleged Molestation of Deaf Girl
Pune, 6th September 2023: Judicial First-Class Magistrate (JFMC) Court in Shivaji Nagar, Pune, has issued an order on 05.09.2023, instructing the Bund Garden Police to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Dr. Shivaji Vidhate, an officer from the Animal Husbandry department at Zila Parishad, Pune.
The FIR is for offences under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 354, 420, 504, 506, and 509, related to charges of cheating and outraging the modesty of a physically challenged girl.
“The incident in question took place on 09.12.2021, during working hours at Zilla Parishad. Dr. Vidhate called the girl into his office ostensibly to discuss work-related matters. However, the accused abruptly insisted that the victim show her hand, which she did from a distance. Shockingly, the accused forcibly seized her hand and demanded her mobile phone. Subsequently, a distressing episode of misconduct unfolded, marked by inappropriate comments. Moreover, the accused allegedly demanded 50% of her salary as a token to secure her permanent position and made unwarranted physical advances.”
Following this distressing incident, the victim promptly reported the matter to the Bund Garden Police Station. In response, the police formed a Vishaka Committee to investigate the incident. During the committee’s proceedings, the accused reportedly admitted to touching the victim’s hand. Despite this admission, an FIR was not registered at the time.
In light of the severity and gravity of the situation, the victim sought legal redress and approached the Honorable JFMC Court. The court, presided over by Chandrashela Patil, after careful consideration of the facts, issued a directive instructing the Bund Garden Police to initiate an FIR against Dr. Shivaji Vidhate, said advocate Krantilal Sahane.
