Pune court orders 4 yr jail for drunk driver
Pune – The Pune district court has awarded four year imprisonment and Rs one lakh fine to a 51-year-old businessman for drunk driving in 2013 and injuring six persons in 2013.
Additional sessions judge N K Maner convicted Mahesh Sardesai, a resident of Koregaon Park.
The incident had taken place around 5 pm near the Deccan bus stop on J M Road on November 20, 2013. The car damaged an auto, three two-wheelers and one handcart. Sardesai, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, was driving at high speed and lost control of the steering wheel. With the extent of damage incurred, an angry crowd started beating up Sardesai. Soon, the police arrived and whisked Sardesai away to Balgandharv Police Chowky.
