Pune, 20th July 2024: A judicial magistrate court has remanded Manorama Khedkar, the mother of controversial IAS officer Puja Khedkar, to two additional days of police custody in connection with threatening farmers over a land ownership dispute.

“We argued that Section 307 is not applicable, so it is her right to get bail. However, the court extended her custody,” said lawyer Vijay Jagtap, representing Manorama Khedkar.

An FIR has been registered by Paud police station (Pune rural police) against Manorama, her husband Dilip Khedkar, and four bouncers. They are accused of intimidating farmers in Dhadawali village near Panshet Dam. The incident took place in June last year but became public after a viral video showed Manorama with a pistol, arguing with the farmers. The footage emerged after Puja Khedkar came into the limelight following her misdemeanours while posted for training at the Pune District Collector’s office.

Dilip Khedkar has been granted interim bail in the case until July 25.
