Pune: Couple Injured in Wagholi, Car Damaged in Lonikand Due To Hoardings Collapse

Wagholi, 7th June 2023: Wagholi and Lonikand recently witnessed alarming incidents related to hoardings, with accidents causing injuries and vehicle damage. In Wagholi, a couple riding a two-wheeler was injured when the flex on a hoarding suddenly broke, while in Lonikand, an iron rod from a hoarding broke, causing severe damage to a car.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the Lonikand incident. The affected car owner, Bapu Tukaram Hargude from Sanswadi, has filed a complaint at the Lonikand police station.

Local activist Ganesh Satav highlighted an incident where a couple on a two-wheeler sustained injuries due to a broken hoarding flex. Satav expressed the urgent need for action against unlicensed hoardings.

The inspection of hoardings in the city road area is currently underway, and authorities have assured the public that decisive measures will be taken against unauthorized hoardings. While the Pune-Ahmednagar highway has seen the demolition of several unlicensed hoardings by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Somnath Bankar, Assistant Commissioner of Wadgaon Sheri Ward Office, acknowledged the presence of remaining hoardings in various locations.
