Srinagar/Pune, 23rd April 2025: In the aftermath of the recent attack on tourists in Pahalgam, a couple from Pune, Maharashtra, has stepped forward to assist victims and offer help to fellow travellers. Dhananjay Jadhav, a leader from the Swaraj Party, and his wife Puja, who are currently in Srinagar on their post-wedding trip, have been volunteering since the incident unfolded.
“We arrived in Srinagar yesterday for a trip after our wedding and around the same time, we heard about the attack in Pahalgam,” said Dhananjay Jadhav. “With help from an Army officer from Maharashtra, we obtained a pass from the 15 Corps headquarters Army Cantonment to support tourists from our state.”
The couple has been present at the cantonment since the day of the attack. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also visited the same location on Tuesday for a high-level security review meeting. According to Puja, some of the bodies of the deceased tourists were brought to the cantonment, and the injured are receiving treatment at the Army Hospital.
“We want to tell tourists from Maharashtra that we should support each other in this situation. We are here for the next five days. If anyone needs help, tourists or their relatives can contact us via WhatsApp,” Puja added.
The couple said they are in constant touch with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, as well as Army and hospital authorities.
The Jadhavs also expressed their condolences to the families of the victims. “Heartfelt tributes to the deceased,” they said.
