Pune: Couple Arrested in Pimpri Chinchwad for Beating and Abandoning 4.5-Year-Old Daughter
Ravet, 16th August 2024: A couple has been arrested in Pimpri Chinchwad for the ‘inhumane’ beating of their 4.5-year-old daughter. The girl, who is the biological child of the mother, was beaten by her mother and her partner and then thrown outside their home. She was found on Tuesday (13th August) at Mhaske Wasti in Ravet.
Police Constable Namdeo Ramnath Salkar reported the incident to the Ravet Police Station. The Ravet Police have arrested the mother, Khushbu Devi Pancham Kumar Mandal (24), and her partner, Pancham Kumar Changuri Mandal, both residents of Chakan. A case has been registered against them under BNS Sections 93 (exposure and abandonment of child under twelve years of age, by parent or person having care of it) and 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), along with relevant sections of The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act (2000, amended in 2015).
The couple allegedly beat the girl, who was from the mother’s first marriage, in an attempt to get rid of her. After the beating, they left her at Mhaske Wasti in Ravet, where she was later found. The victim girl has been sent to the Child Welfare Committee. Police Sub Inspector Chate from the Ravet Police Station is investigating the matter further.
