Pune Coach Accused of Forging Certificates to Secure Shiv Chhatrapati Award

Hinjawadi, 8th August 2024: A coach is under investigation for allegedly submitting forged documents to obtain the Shiv Chhatrapati Award for the players he trained. The Pimpri Chinchwad Police have registered a case against the coach in connection with the incident, which reportedly took place between 2019 and 2022 at Prabhat Road, Pune.

Ganesh Popat Patil, a 45-year-old resident of Prabhat Road, lodged a complaint at the Hinjawadi Police Station. The accused, Ashutosh Murlidhar Jagtap, faces charges under IPC Sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 464 (making a false document), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery for cheating), and 471 (using as genuine a forged document).

According to the police, Jagtap was required to submit an affidavit detailing the sportsmen he had trained to qualify for the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Award. He allegedly used a Rs 100 stamp paper in the name of the complainant’s son to create a fake certificate. By submitting these forged documents to the government, Jagtap is accused of deceiving both the complainant and the authorities. Police Sub-Inspector Dhumal from Hinjawadi Police Station is leading the investigation.
