Pune City To Face Water Supply Shutdown On October 17 For Maintenance Work

Pune, 14th October 2024: Several key water purification centers in Pune, including Khadakwasla, New and Old Parvati Water Purification Centers, Lashkar, Vadgaon, Warje, SNDT Water Purification Centers, and the Bhama Askhed Project, will undergo essential electrical and maintenance repairs on Thursday, October 17. As a result, the water supply to the entire Pune city and its suburbs will be halted for a full day.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has informed that residents may also experience low-pressure and delayed water supply on Friday, October 18. Chief Engineer of the Water Supply Department, Nandkishore Jagtap, has appealed to citizens to cooperate during this period. The water supply department aims to complete the maintenance work within the day to minimize disruption.

Areas Affected by Water Cut

The areas affected by the water supply shutdown include all Pethas in the city as well as several neighborhoods across Pune and its outskirts. Key affected areas include Dattawadi, Rohan Kritika, Rajendranagar, Lokmanya Nagar, Deccan, Shivajinagar, Swargate, Bibvewadi, Mukundnagar, Katraj, Dhankawadi, Hadapsar, Kondhwa Khurd, Wanwadi, Kharadi, Yerawada, Vishrantwadi, and many more.

Specific locations under different water purification centers that will face the shutdown are listed below:

– Lashkar Jalkendra: Hadapsar, Sasane Nagar, Wanwadi, Kondhwa, Kharadi, and Pune Cantonment areas.
– Vadgaon Jalkendra: Hingane, Dhankawadi, Ambegaon, Katraj, Bharti Vidyapeeth area, and others.
– SNDT Water Tank: Gokhalenagar, Law College Road, Senapati Bapat Road, Paud Road, and nearby localities.
– Chandni Chowk Tank: Bavdhan, Pashan, Bhugaon Road, and surrounding areas.
– Gandhi Bhavan Tank: Warje Malwadi, Karvenagar, Gokulnagar, Mahatma Society, and adjoining areas.
– Warje Jalkendra: Karvenagar, Shahu Colony, Warje, Baner, Balewadi, and nearby regions.
– Holkar Water Center: Mula Road, Khadki Cantonment, and the Hariganga Society area.
– KondHve-Dhavde Water Center: Warje Highway, Ramnagar, Shivne, and Kondve Dhavade areas.

Residents in these areas are urged to plan accordingly and store sufficient water for the day. The PMC has also advised citizens to use water judiciously once the supply resumes on Friday.

PMC’s Appeal for Cooperation

PMC officials have assured that the maintenance work will be expedited to restore water supply as soon as possible. Citizens are requested to cooperate with the Water Supply Department and make necessary arrangements to manage the temporary inconvenience.
