Pune Citizens Show Solidarity And Support For Dr Ambedkar’s Vision Through Bhimthon Marathon
Pune, 14th April 2023: Pune witnessed a remarkable event today, as the city celebrated Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti with great enthusiasm by organizing the Bhimthon competition.
The competition was held to promote the principles of social unity and equality advocated by Dr BR Ambedkar and to spread his message to all sections of society. The competition, which was based on the concept of a marathon, saw a massive turnout of citizens who actively participated in the event.
Dr. Vikas Pol emerged victorious in the men’s category, while Rohini Tilak, Rushika Kule, and Arpita Shinde emerged as winners in the women’s open category. Sandeep Yadav, Pratap Kadam, and Aditya Payal secured the top three positions in the under-18 category, while Nisha Paswan, Devaki, and Rhea Dhaware won the under-18 girls category.
The event was organized by Kishore Kamble of Spark Foundation and Anant Gharat, President of My Earth Foundation. The Bhimthon competition, covering a distance of 7 kilometers, started from Sanas Maidan near Sarasbaug and concluded at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue near Pune Station. The winners were felicitated with trophies, certificates, and medals, and all the participants received certificates and medals.
