Pune: Chinchwad Assembly Constituency Witnesses 50.47% Voter Turnout in By-Elections

Chinchwad, 26th February 2023: The by-elections for the Chinchwad Assembly Constituency in Pune were conducted peacefully, except for one incident, and with enthusiasm on Sunday.

According to the election decision officer Sachin Dhole, the voter turnout for this by-election was 50.47 percent, with 568,954 registered voters in the constituency.

The voting began at 7 am and saw 3.25 percent polling till 9 am, 10.45 percent polling till 11 am, 20.68 percent till 1 pm, 30.55 percent till 3 pm, and 41.06 percent till 5 pm. The final hour saw the most significant turnout, with 50.47 percent of the voters exercising their right to vote. In the 2019 assembly elections, the voter turnout was 55.88 percent in this constituency. The candidates managed to encourage voters to participate in the election process in the final stages of the polling.

There were 510 polling stations set up, and videography monitored 255 of these polling stations. A control room was established at ShankarAnna Gawde Kamgar Bhavan in Thergaon, which oversaw the entire voting process. Quick Response Teams were available at each polling station to solve any issues that may have arisen. The police force was also deployed at each location, with 3707 police personnel and 725 officers appointed. The voting process continued smoothly without any disturbances. In case of any technical problem with the EVM, the rapid action team was immediately deployed to resolve the issue.

After the voting process ended, the voting material was deposited at ShankarAnna Gawde Kamgar Bhawan in Thergaon until late at night. The Election Commission congratulated the people of Chinchwad for their peaceful and enthusiastic participation in the by-election.
