Chikhali, 4th March 2023: The Chikhli, Moshi, Charholi Housing Society Federation has requested the Municipal Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to cancel the arbitrary tax rule. The Federation has expressed concern that the PCMC is causing financial hardship to flat owners by collecting a tax of 0.5 per cent of the purchase price of the property as a registration fee from April 2022.

According to the Federation, the PCMC is running the administration arbitrarily since the administrative rule came into place. They have requested the Municipal Commissioner to return to the previous rule where ten per cent of the general tax was charged as a transfer fee and registration fee. Additionally, they have requested that the first registration of the property be done free of charge if the property is to be registered for taxation for the first time.

The Federation has also alleged that society owners are being treated badly since the administrative rule came into place. They have accused the PCMC of cutting the water tap connection of the entire society for non-payment of property tax by some flat holders, providing inadequate water supply to the society holders, charging an exorbitant amount for tax collection, and backing the builder even after making many complaints about the illegal work of the builder and not acting on it.
