Pune: Chandrakant Patil Warns Institutes: No Fee Waiver for Girls, No Recognition

Pune, 17th July 2024: Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister, Chandrakant Patil, inaugurated the first Centre of Excellence in Robotics and Automation, established by the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education and the Government Polytechnic, Pune. Present at the event were Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole, Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education Director Dr. Pramod Naik, Joint Director Dr. Dattatray Jadhav, Secretary Dr. Mahendra Chitlange, and Government Polytechnic Principal Dr. Rajendra Patil. A multi-purpose computer laboratory was also inaugurated during the event.

Minister Chandrakant Patil announced, “Girls will receive a 100% fee waiver for 642 courses in Maharashtra. The admission fee will be reimbursed to educational institutes by the Maharashtra Government in September. Educational institutes should wait for this reimbursement. Institutions that do not admit girls without the payment of fees will be de-recognized. Girls are to be admitted without any fees.”

Patil emphasized the importance of providing quality education and training to students through Government Polytechnic. He called for increased cooperation between government institutions and industries to enhance student facilities. He also mentioned that the central government is ready to provide funds for developing the government’s technical education sector. He urged government technical institutes to come up with new ideas, assuring them of cooperation to improve facilities. The government’s focus is on making technology education more advanced and comprehensive. Pune will host the first of three Centers of Excellence approved for this purpose. Additionally, computer labs have been set up in 41 technical institutes to increase the CET capacity for 1,600 students.
