Pune: Chandannagar Police Arrest Man From Gujarat For Duping Elderly Citizen Of Rs 23 Lakhs In Stock Market Investment Fraud

Pune, 24th June 2023: Startling revelations have come to light regarding fraud crimes committed by gangs in Gujarat under the guise of stock market investments across the country. In connection with a fraud case involving a sum of Rs 23 lakhs, a person from Mehsana district has been apprehended by the police.

The arrested individual has been identified as Naveen Praveenbhai Chauhan, a 22-year-old resident of Gorisana district, Kheralu, Gujarat. Further investigations have unveiled the presence of active fraud gangs in Gujarat villages, including Vadnagar, Sipur, Shahapur, Shahapur Wad, Khanpur, and Chhablia, operating with enticing offers related to stock market investments.

A senior citizen residing in Vadgaon Sheri was duped of Rs 23 lakhs by a cyber thief who promised lucrative returns through stock market investments. The thief failed to refund the money to the victim, prompting the senior citizen to file a complaint with the police.

During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the accused, Naveen Chauhan, was located in Gujarat. Subsequently, a team comprising Police Sub-Inspector Rameshwar Revale, Constable Bharat Ukeerde, Constable Santosh Shinde, and other members of the Cyber Squad from Chandannagar Police Station traveled to Gujarat for further inquiries. Chauhan was successfully apprehended by the police. The accused was taken into custody and presented in the Shivajinagar court as per the court’s order, which granted police custody.

It has also come to light that the youth from Jamtara in Jharkhand and Gurugothdi village in Rajasthan have been involved in cheating citizens across the country, while the youth in Gujarat have been engaged in cyber crimes. The arrested individual, Naveen Chauhan, has admitted to defrauding numerous individuals under the pretext of online trading. The investigation has revealed that the youth in Gujarat are enticing victims with promises of stock market investments.

Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Landge of Chandannagar Police Station stated that the probe further uncovered the purchase of expensive goods and vehicles using the fraudulently obtained funds.
