Pune: Chain-Snatching Incidents Increase, Investigation Ongoing

Pune, 29th March 2023: Thieves snatching jewellery from women has created a frenzy in the city. Jewellery worth Rs three lakh has been stolen from women in different incidents. These incidents took place in Parvati Patha, Katraj-Kondhwa road and Bibvewadi area.

A woman who lives in the Parvati village area left the Nandadeep Education Society area around 6:30 in the morning. At that time, thieves on a two-wheeler snatched her mangalsutra worth Rs 75,000 from the woman’s neck. The woman has filed a complaint at the Dattawadi police station. Police sub-inspector Chandrakant Kamthe is investigating.

A mangalsutra worth Rs 1.35 lakh was stolen from the neck of a woman leaving from Katraj-Kondhwa road by thieves on a two-wheeler. The woman has filed a complaint at the Kondhwa police station. The Assistant Police Inspector is conducting the investigation. An incident took place in the Bibvewadi area around eight in the morning when a gold chain worth one lakh rupees was stolen from the neck of a woman by two-wheeler thieves. Assistant Police Inspector Praveen Kalukhe is investigating.

The incidents of snatching jewellery from women’s necks have taken place between six and eight in the morning. Bibvewadi, Parvati Paytha and Katraj-Kondhwa road are areas where several incidents occur. The police suspect that the thieves stealing jewellery from different areas may be the same. The police have seized the CCTV footage and are searching for them.
