Pune: Businessman Succumbs To Injuries Following Explosion In Shop On Pune-Satara Road
Pune, 16th May 2023: A businessman who sustained severe injuries in an explosion in a shop near D Mart on Pune-Satara Road, passed away while undergoing treatment. The incident occurred on May 1, around midnight, when a fire erupted in a housewares store situated in a building adjacent to D Mart.
The deceased has been identified as Sameer Ashok Kolte. The fire initially broke out in a shop selling home electronics, engulfing items such as electronics, TVs, fridges, washing machines, and gas geysers. Amidst the blaze, an explosion rocked the store, resulting in the collapse of the three-story building. Two individuals, including Sameer Kolte, suffered injuries from the blast.
Following the explosion, Kolte, who was critically wounded, was admitted to a private hospital for medical treatment. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. A case is registered by Sahakarnagar police station.
In response to the blast, Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) visited the scene to initiate an investigation. ATS officials are working to determine the cause of the explosion. Items seized from the site have been sent to the forensic laboratory for thorough examination.
