Pune: Burglarizing ‘Reel Star’ Buys Gun with Stolen Cash; Arrested by Pimpri-Chinchwad Police

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 30th July 2024: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have registered a case against five individuals for wielding a pistol in a video and posting it as a reel on Instagram. After the crime was reported, one of these ‘reel stars’ committed multiple burglaries. He sold the stolen items and used the money to buy a pistol from Madhya Pradesh. In this incident, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate’s Anti-Robbery Squad arrested two notorious history-sheeters. Items worth Rs 10.75 lakh, including jewelry, guns, cartridges, and other valuables, were confiscated from them.

For the past few days, in the Chikhali area, some individuals have been brandishing pistols, spreading terror, shooting, and uploading videos as Instagram reels. The Anti-Robbery Squad has now arrested two suspects in connection with these activities. One of the accused, Sushil aka Barkya Bharat Gore (age 18, resident of Ota Scheme, Nigdi), had also shown a gun to a cloth shop owner and forcibly robbed clothes from the shop. Additionally, he has committed burglaries at various locations.

After a case was registered against Sushil, he burglarized houses in the Chikhali area. He then went to Madhya Pradesh and bought pistols with the money obtained from the burglaries. He fired four rounds in his home to test if the pistols worked properly. Four of his empty bullet shells are now in police possession.

Accused Sushil and his accomplice, Akshay Prabhakar Kanse (age 22, resident of Ota Scheme, Nigdi), started living in Kuruli, Khed taluka. The Anti-Robbery Squad of PCPC received this information, laid a trap, and arrested both Gore and Kanse. During the arrest, they seized two pistols, two live cartridges, and four empty bullet shells. Following that, the police arrested two minor accomplices and seized two more pistols and two live cartridges from them.

The accused and his accomplices committed many crimes in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, including robbery, burglary, and violent assaults. The police have seized items worth Rs 17.62 lakh from them, including gold and weapons.

Due to this action, 14 cases from Khadakwasla, Parvati, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Kondhwa, Sinhagad, Vishrambaug, Chikhali, Bhosari, and MIDC Bhosari Police Stations have been solved. Sushil Gore is a notorious history-sheeter against whom 28 cases of murder, attempted murder, burglary, vehicle theft, robbery, and vandalism are registered. He was absconding from four cases registered at Sahakar Nagar and Chikhali Police Stations.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr. Vishal Hire, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 1) Balasaheb Kopnar. The team included Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Kadam, Police Sub Inspector Bharat Gosavi, and Police Constables Vikrant Gaikwad, Ganesh Hinge, Mahesh Khande, Ganesh Sawant, Ashish Bankar, Vinod Veer, Umesh Pulgam, Ganesh Kokane, Rahul Kharge, Nitin Lokhane, Pravin Kamble, Pravin Mane, Amar Kadam, Samir Raskar, Chintaman Supe, Audumbar Raunge, Nagesh Mali, and Popat Hulge, all from the Anti-Robbery Squad of PCPC.
