Pune: British-Era Hand Grenade Found Near IISER During Excavation For Metro Work, Defused Safely

Baner, 4th December 2023: A hand grenade dating back to the British era was discovered near the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) on Baner Road during the ongoing excavation for the installation of Metro shed. Pune Metro promptly informed the police about the finding, leading to the swift response of the bomb detection and disposal team.

Upon receiving information about the incident, officers and staff from Chatushringi Police Station, along with Senior Police Inspector Balaji Pandhre, quickly reached the location. In a precautionary measure, the bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) was summoned to safely handle the situation. The team successfully seized and defused the hand grenade on the spot.

Authorities clarified that there is no cause for panic.
