Pune: Break-In at Tarakeshwar Temple, Thieves Make Off with 2 Lakh Rupees

Yerwada, 6th June 2024: Thieves broke into the Tarakeshwar temple by tampering with the main temple door’s sliding lock and made away with approximately 2 lakh rupees from the donation boxes.

The theft occurred in the early hours of June 4, between 1:30 and 6:00 am. Six donation boxes were found broken inside the temple premises. The Yerawada police have initiated an investigation into the matter, registering a case in response to the complaint lodged by Sudhir Vasantrao Wambure, a resident of Yerawada village and trustee of the temple.

The Tarakeshwar Temple, situated atop Parnakuti Hill across Bund Garden in Yerawada, fell victim to the burglary. Following the complaint, a team comprising Police Inspector Santosh Patil, Assistant Commissioner Aarti Bansode, and Deputy Commissioner Vijaykumar Magar conducted an inspection of the crime scene.

CCTV footage from the temple has been collected for analysis, and the police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the culprits. Senior Inspector Swapnil Patil has been tasked with further investigation into the incident.
