Pune Braces for Rain and Thunderstorms Today, Predicts Meteorological Department

Pune, 5th June 2023: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for rain accompanied by thunder and gale in certain regions of Konkan, central Maharashtra, and Marathwada today, June 5.

Thundershowers with wind speeds of 30-40 kmph are anticipated in select areas of Konkan, central Maharashtra, and Marathwada.

 

The districts expected to receive rainfall include Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad, and Pune. However, Vidarbha is likely to remain dry. The Meteorological Department has also warned of an impending heat wave in Vidarbha on Tuesday.

 

The arrival of the southwest monsoon winds has faced a delay, as per the Meteorological Department. While it was predicted that the monsoon would reach Kerala on June 5, the onset of rain in the region has been postponed. The seasonal winds are still progressing, yet they have not yet reached Kerala. On Sunday, the monsoon winds advanced over the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.
