Pune: Boyfriend And Cousin Booked For Harassing And Abetting Suicide Of 19-Year-Old Girl
Wanowrie, 2nd May 2023: In a tragic incident, a 19-year-old girl from Pune died by suicide due to her boyfriend’s alleged harassment.
The girl’s mother filed a complaint at the Wanowrie police station, following which a case was registered against the boyfriend, identified as Praveen Pidaltha, and his cousin Nancy Pidaltha.
According to police, the victim and the accused were in a relationship, during which Praveen and Nancy had reportedly demanded money from the girl. To pay them off, the girl had taken money from her mother, which she had given to both of them. However, the accused continued to harass the girl for more money, and even threatened to circulate her pictures and audio tapes on social media.
Unable to bear the harassment, the victim died by suicide at her residence in Ghorpadi area. The Wanowrie police initially registered a case of accidental death (AD) but later, following the girl’s mother’s complaint, a case was registered against the accused on court orders. Further investigation is going on.
