Pune: Boy Going To School On Bicycle Dies in Accident With Car in Kalyaninagar

Kalyani Nagar, 20th July 2024: A boy riding his bicycle to school died in an accident involving a speeding car in front of Mary Gold Society, Kalyani Nagar, Pune.

The deceased has been identified as Shashwat Ram Bhongade (15), a resident of Kumar Kriti Society, Kalyani Nagar. Police have detained the accused car driver, identified as Ravikant Ramdin Gaur (37), a resident of Rohan Mithila in Viman Nagar, who hails from Thane.

According to police, the incident took place around 8:20 am today. “The CCTV footage of the incident has been checked. The speeding Hyundai Alcazar hit the boy’s cycle. We have registered a case based on the complaint from the deceased child’s uncle,” said Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke, in charge of Yerwada Police Station.

He further informed, “A report has confirmed that the car driver had not consumed alcohol. The driver is in custody.”

The accused has been charged with offences under sections 106 (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
