Pune/Delhi, 22nd April 2025: Over 150 passengers traveling from Delhi to Pune on a SpiceJet flight faced severe discomfort and confusion on Monday after being kept inside the aircraft for more than two hours without adequate air conditioning.

The flight, SG-477, was scheduled to depart from Delhi at 3:25 PM and land in Pune by 5:35 PM. However, passengers who boarded the plane around 3:00 PM were left seated on the tarmac with no clear communication about the delay.

“There was no proper announcement or update. We kept asking the cabin crew, but they just told us to wait,” said Akash Chaturvedi, one of the stranded passengers. “The air conditioning wasn’t working properly, and the cabin felt stifling. Many elderly passengers started feeling unwell and anxious.”

According to several accounts, the temperature inside the cabin began to rise, exacerbating the situation. “People were sweating, some were visibly panicking. This went on for hours. Around 5:30 PM, the crew finally asked us to deboard, saying there was a technical issue. Why didn’t they do this earlier?” Chaturvedi added.

In response to queries, a SpiceJet spokesperson said: “Flight SG-477 from Delhi to Pune was delayed due to a last-minute technical snag. Our maintenance team was working to resolve it, but the repairs took longer than expected. Passengers were deboarded and provided with refreshments.”

However, the ordeal didn’t end there. Passengers were called back for reboarding at 8:40 PM, only to face another round of delay. “We were told the delay this time was due to refreshments being loaded onto the aircraft. The new departure time was announced as 9:40 PM,” Chaturvedi noted.

The total delay stretched over six hours, with little clarity or comfort for the travelers. As of Monday night, many passengers expressed their frustration on social media, tagging the airline and urging for better communication and care.
