Pune: Borrower Faces Death Threats Despite Clearing Rs 88 Lakh Debt, Moneylender Booked

Kothrud, 4th December 2023: A disconcerting incident has come to light as a borrower, who diligently repaid a loan of Rs 88 lakh with interest during the COVID-19 period, now faces death threats from the moneylender and associates. The Kothrud Police have taken action by registering a case against ten individuals, including the primary moneylender.

The complainant, a peon working at an educational institute, initially borrowed money with interest in November 2021. In an attempt to manage the escalating interest, the borrower sought loans from additional sources, ultimately repaying Rs 88 lakh 25 thousand with interest to six lenders. Despite the repayment, the accused individuals persisted in demanding both the principal and interest.

Rahul alias Digambar Purushottam Kachi, Sujit Sudhir Lajulkar, Vicky Dhavle, Jayakumar Sadashiv Patil, Balasaheb, alias Nitin Karande, Akshay Sagar, Nikhil Alhat, and Santosh Uttam Solase are among the individuals against whom a case has been registered. Additionally, two other individuals are also included in the legal proceedings.

Sujit Sudhir Lajulkar, one of the accused, reportedly went to the extreme of threatening the borrower with hanging outside the office. Furthermore, Nikhil Alhat, Santosh Solase, and their accomplices allegedly took 21 tolas of the borrower’s wife’s jewellery as collateral for a loan that was never sanctioned, ultimately embezzling the jewellery. The police are actively investigating the case, which involves multiple charges against the accused individuals, including criminal intimidation and fraudulent activities.
