Pune: Bombay High Court Revokes Appointment of Sassoon Hospital Dean Dr Sanjeev Thakur
Pune, 10th November 2023: The Bombay High Court has overturned the appointment of Dr. Sanjeev Thakur as the Dean of Sassoon General Hospital. This ruling follows a legal dispute initiated by previous Dean Dr Vinayak Kale in the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT) after he was suddenly replaced.
Dr Thakur’s appointment faced legal challenges, leading to an appeal in the Bombay High Court after an unfavourable verdict in the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal. The recent hearing in the High Court resulted in the cancellation of Dr. Thakur’s appointment, paving the way for the likely reinstatement of Dr. Vinayak Kale as the Dean of Sassoon General Hospital.
This development comes in the backdrop of controversy surrounding the prolonged stay of drug racketeer Lalit Patil at Sassoon Hospital.
Dr. Kale, commenting on the matter, stated, “Following the MAT hearing, an immediate appeal was filed in the Bombay High Court. The state government’s appointment of Dr. Thakur has now been revoked. Once the official copy of the ruling is received, the medical education department of the state government will issue orders and subsequent actions will be taken.”
