Baner, 13th July 2024: On Baner Pashan Link Road, a private landowner is demanding cash payment for his land, which has delayed the completion of a 200-meter stretch for more than 10 years, thereby halting road progress. The Bombay High Court has instructed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to submit an affidavit within 10 days outlining the expected completion timeline.

As part of development plans, PMC has proposed a 36-meter-wide and 1200-meter-long road to connect Baner and Pashan, responding to the area’s growing population and traffic. Work on a 1-kilometer stretch was completed in 2014, but a section owned privately has caused a delay due to payment disputes. PMC intends to compensate the owner using Transferable Development Rights (TDR) and Floor Space Index (FSI), which the owner has refused, causing inconvenience to 2.5 lakh citizens.

Advocate Satya Muley, representing the petitioners, told Punekar News, “The ‘Baner Pashan Link Road Welfare Trust’ filed a petition in the Bombay High Court, which has had multiple hearings. Due to PMC’s absence at the last hearing, the court has issued a strict directive to submit an affidavit detailing the timeline for land acquisition and road completion within 10 days.”

PMC needs Rs 45 crores to acquire the land and complete the road connecting Pashan and Baner. The Bombay High Court expressed dissatisfaction with PMC’s handling of the situation, citing citizen inconvenience. Hence, the court has demanded PMC’s affidavit regarding the acquisition timeline and completion date, with the next hearing scheduled for 24th July.
