Pune, 20th June 2024: This morning in Pune, the body of a woman was discovered inside a drinking water tanker. It remains unclear whether her death was a result of murder or suicide. The woman had left her home for work, and her family hails from Uttar Pradesh. She was also known to have mental health issues. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Kondhwa Police Station.

The deceased has been identified as Kaushalya Mukesh Chavan, 25 years old, residing in Undri. The tanker where Chavan was found belongs to Purushottam Narendra Sasane, 27 years old, also a resident of Undri.

According to police reports, Sasane, the tanker owner, had driven from Kondhwa to fill water at the Power House in Handewadi. During the process, he encountered disruptions and upon investigation, discovered Chavan’s body. Shocked by the find, Sasane reported the incident to Hadapsar Police Station. Since the tanker came from the area under the Kondhwa Police Station’s jurisdiction, they became involved. Kondhwa Police identified the woman and sent her body for a postmortem at Sassoon General Hospital.

Police Inspector Mansingh Patil of Kondhwa Police Station stated that the deceased woman, along with her husband and children, had recently relocated to Undri from Uttar Pradesh. Her husband worked in flooring, while she used to work at a nearby building. She had been diagnosed with mental health issues by local priests and doctors in her native village.
