Pune: BJP Nominates Amit Gorkhe as MLC Candidate for Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri Chinchwad, June 1, 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad area will soon have a new Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated local leader and BJP’s Secretary for Maharashtra Pradesh, Amit Gorkhe. Following the Lok Sabha election results, Maharashtra is currently in the midst of Legislative Council elections, covering 11 seats, scheduled for this month. The deadline for MLC nominations is July 2.

BJP Maharashtra State President Chandrashekhar Bawankule has submitted a proposed list to the BJP’s Central Parliamentary Board, which includes Amit Gorkhe’s name. Today, Gorkhe’s nomination was officially announced. Alongside him, former minister Pankaja Munde, Parinay Phuke, Yogesh Tilekar, and Sadabhau Khot have also been nominated by the BJP.

Gorkhe’s nomination is expected to strengthen BJP’s influence in the Pimpri Chinchwad area, potentially aiding the party in future elections. With Gorkhe’s nomination, the area will now have five legislators: Ashwini Laxman Jagtap from Chinchwad, Anna Bansode from Pimpri, Mahesh Landge from Bhosari, and Uma Khapare as a current member of the Legislative Council, with Gorkhe poised to join her.
