Pune, 29th July 2024: Continuous rainfall in the Khadakwasla dam area led to a significant release of water into the Mutha river on Sunday night, resulting in the submersion of Bhide Bridge and Shivne Bridge on Monday morning.

The heavy downpour in the dam’s catchment area prompted the authorities to start discharging water late Sunday night. Settlements along the river were promptly alerted to the rising water levels. By Monday morning, the water flow had submerged Bhide Bridge, prompting the police to close it to traffic by erecting temporary barriers on both sides.

Motorists who usually traverse Bhide Bridge are advised to use alternate routes via Deccan Gymkhana and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Bridge to reach their destinations. The traffic police have announced that the bridge will be reopened once the water recedes and it is deemed safe for passage.
