Mumbra, 23rd October 2024: While the Mahayuti alliance has announced candidates for over 180 seats in the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, the Mahavikas Aghadi has yet to reveal many of its candidates. One of the most closely watched constituencies is Baramati, where both factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) are vying to assert their dominance. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will contest from Baramati, representing his faction of the NCP. Meanwhile, a senior leader from Sharad Pawar’s faction has disclosed that Ajit Pawar’s nephew, Yugendra Pawar, will run against him.

Mumbra MLA Jitendra Awhad, from Sharad Pawar’s NCP, revealed Yugendra Pawar’s candidacy while speaking to the media in his constituency. Awhad’s own candidacy in Mumbra is nearly confirmed, though the Mahavikas Aghadi is still finalizing several seat allocations.

When questioned about Yugendra Pawar’s candidacy, Awhad confirmed that he expects Yugendra to be the candidate from Baramati. He also addressed the nomination of Najim Mulla, who has been fielded by Ajit Pawar’s NCP in Mumbra, saying, “Someone will certainly contest against me. Pawar Saheb is my guiding force. The seat allotment process will be finalized soon.”
