Pune: Driver Takes Own Life, Blames Employer For Bullying

Kondhwa, 30th November 2023: A 26-year-old man, Toheed Mehboob Shaikh, took his own life by jumping from the sixth floor of the Galaxy Premium building in Kausarbagh, Kondhwa, Pune. The incident took place around 8 am on Thursday.

Toheed, employed as a driver and supervisor for builder Arbaaz Memon over the past four years. There were some disagreements between them which resulted in Toheed’s decision not to attend work on Wednesday, escalating tensions between the two.

Senior Police Inspector Santosh Sonwane revealed that Arbaaz Memon had allegedly invited Toheed to his father-in-law’s house. The situation took a tragic turn when Toheed faced verbal abuse in front of his mother-in-law, accusing him of neglecting work despite receiving payment. Toheed chose to end his life by jumping from the building.

Following the incident, the grieving relatives, angered by the circumstances, brought Toheed’s body to the Kondhwa Police Station. They insisted on withholding the cremation until the arrest of Arbaaz Memon, the accused. Eventually, the police managed to establish an understanding, allowing the family to take possession of the body.

In response to the filed complaint by Toheed’s wife, Fabiha Toheed Sheikh, the Kondhwa police registered a case against Arbaz Muhammad Ali Memon in the evening. Arbaaz Memon, the alleged perpetrator, is currently at large, and the police are conducting a search operation to apprehend him.

Toheed’s video testimony, captured on his mobile phone, detailed the distressing circumstances leading up to his decision. He accused Arbaaz Memon of persistently troubling him for the past four days, subjecting him to verbal abuse and threats of harm.
