Pune: ATS To Investigate 34 Kg Drugs Seized By Railway Police

Pune, 5th January 2021: A few days back, 34 kg drugs worth Rs 120 crore was seized by the Pune Government Railway Police (GRP) in a search operation launched on December 31. The investigation has now been transferred to the Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad (ATS).

The drugs, which were brought to Pune from Himachal Pradesh via Delhi, were to be sold at New Year’s parties in Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Bangalore and Goa. But before that, the GRP had arrested the two in the Pune station area and confiscated the hashish (charas). The Railway Police’s investigation so far has uncovered a number of clues, including a connection to Bollywood.

GRP Superintendent of Police Sadanand Waise-Patil said if there is a crime in more than one district, it is handed over to the CID. Similarly, if the scope of drug offences is in more than two districts, the investigation is handed over to the ATS. Accordingly, the investigation has been handed over to the ATS.
