Shivajinagar, 16th October 2024: With the schedule for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections announced, candidates are expected to be named in the coming days. Sharad Pawar will also announce candidates for the Nationalist Congress Sharadchandra Pawar Party (NCP-SP), prompting many aspiring MLAs to visit him at his Modi Baug residence in Shivajinagar, Pune, seeking opportunities.

As the program for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections unfolds, political parties have begun to mobilize quickly. Meetings and discussions are taking place to decide party candidates and allocate seats across every alliance. Political strategist Sharad Pawar is meeting with aspiring candidates from both his Mahavikas Aghadi alliance and the opposing Mahayuti alliance, as everyone seeks a chance to become an MLA.

Former MLA Vilas Lande, from Ajit Pawar’s NCP, visited Sharad Pawar alongside Dr Amol Benke, brother of Junnar MLA Atul Benke. “As a doctor, this was not a meeting for political discussion,” explained Dr. Benke. Madha MP Dhairyasheel Mohite Patil, also from Sharad Pawar’s NCP, was present at the office in Modi Bagh on Tuesday.

NCP-SP leader Jayprakash Dandekar from Hingoli met with Senior Pawar regarding the Hingoli Constituency. He noted that while the constituency is currently aligned with the Indian National Congress, the Congress candidate has lost twice, prompting him to request that Pawar consider moving the constituency to NCP-SP and nominate Anil Patange as the candidate.

Beed MP Bajrang Sonawane also visited Modi Baug to discuss NCP’s candidacy in Beed. Additionally, Ajit Pawar’s brother, Shrinivas Pawar, met with Sharad Pawar. BJP leader and former president of the Maharashtra State Sugar Association, Prithviraj Jachak, also attended the discussions at Modi Bagh on Tuesday, during which the candidacy for the Baramati constituency may have been addressed.
