Pune, 24th July 2024: Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil has commenced a hunger strike in Antarwali Sarati in Jalna district, beginning on July 20. Today marks the fifth day of his fast. Meanwhile, a Pune court has issued an arrest warrant against Patil in connection with a cheating case involving a drama producer.

The Pune court’s arrest warrant was issued in a case filed against Patil and two others for allegedly cheating a drama producer. Patil’s failure to attend court hearings led to the issuance of the warrant.

Manoj Jarange Patil and his associates had organized rehearsals for a play, but the producer claimed they did not pay the agreed amount. The producer subsequently filed a complaint at the Kothrud Police Station. The court had summoned Patil twice, but he did not appear due to his involvement in the Maratha reservation agitation. As a result, the court issued a non-bailable warrant against him and his two co-accused, Arjun Prasad Jadhav and Datta Bahir. Patil eventually appeared in court once, resulting in the cancellation of the non-bailable warrant upon payment of a Rs 500 fine.

The case dates back to 2013, when Patil and his colleagues allegedly failed to pay the fixed amount for a drama they organized.
