Pune: Army’s Southern Command Commemorates 25th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas

Pune, 26th July 2024: The Southern Command celebrated the Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti with immense pride and fervor, marking the 25th anniversary of the Indian Army’s remarkable victory in the Kargil War. This significant day honors the undaunted bravery and supreme sacrifice of the soldiers who etched a golden chapter in India’s history.

A solemn ceremony was held at the Command War Memorial, where Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, paid tribute to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath. The event was attended by serving personnel from the Pune Military Station and members of the veteran community, who gathered to honor the valor and sacrifice of the gallant soldiers who led India to a resounding victory in the Kargil conflict.

In addition to the ceremony, the Southern Command organized numerous commemorative events, including bike rallies, tree plantations, and Veergathas (tales of valor) in schools and colleges. Kargil War veterans interacted with students and citizens at various locations throughout the past month. These events aimed to spread the heroic saga of valor and inspire every citizen with the fearless deeds of the brave soldiers.
