Pune: Armed Dacoits Attack Policemen, Cops Chase And Nab Two In Kothrud

Kothrud, 5th July 2021: Amed dacoits attacked policemen when they went to nab them at a building in Kothrud around 2.20 am today. Police have nabbed two while four of them escaped.

 

The arrested persons have been identified as Ballusingh Prabhusingh Tak and Ujalasingh Pabhusingh Tak, both residents of Wanowrie. There are 63 cases against Ballusingh and 72 cases against Ujalasingh. They are involved in the attempt to murder, robbery, burglary and vehicle thefts, police said.

 

Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta said that around 2.20 am today, police received information about some armed people at Pancharatna Society near Raja Shivrai Pratishthan School in Kothrud. Police Sub Inspector Shelke, Beat Marshall and other night duty staff reached the place. As soon as the police arrived, the robbers came down the stairs of the building and tried to kill the police officer with a sharp weapon. The police team nabbed Ballusingh on the spot and while Ujalasingh was caught after chasing him for about one km on foot.

 

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Pournima Gaikwad said that a large number of sharp weapons, cutters, a Tavera vehicle (which was stolen from Khadki), jewelry and a watch, were seized from the accused. The search is going on to nab four accused who escaped from the spot.

 

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Dr Sanjay Shinde, DCP Pournima Gaikwad and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kothrud Division) Gajanan Tonpe.

 

The team included Senior Police Inspector Meghshyam Dange, Police Inspector Balasaheb Bade, PSI Shelke, ASI Sangurde and policemen Chavan, Sapkal, Kubhar, Gaikwad,  Margale, Burle, Gajbhare and driver Dhadwad.
