He has also given instructions that this land acquisition should be completed immediately. Therefore, there are signs that the issue of land acquisition for laying water channels will be resolved soon.

Deputy Chief Minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated various development works of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Monday (15th May). In this program, Fadnavis had ordered immediate land acquisition of the necessary land for laying the aqueduct, with the aim of providing abundant water to the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Against this background, a meeting was held on Tuesday (16th May) with Collector Dr Deshmukh and other senior officials in the presence of Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao. Officers were appointed for land acquisition. A total of 267 MLD of water has been reserved for the city, with 100 MLD from Andra Dam and 167 MLD from Bhama Askhed Dam.

At present water is being released from Andra Dam into the Indrayani River and is being taken from the dams at Nighoje. This water is being purified from the water purification center at Chikhli and is being supplied to various parts of the city. The city residents have got some relief as they received more water from Andra Dam this summer.

Although there is relief now, the administration has started speedy efforts to provide the remaining reserved water to the citizens as soon as possible. For this, the next phase of canals is important and land acquisition for the 26 km canal is pending.

Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Collector said, “The meeting discussed the problems in the Pimpri-Chinchwad water supply scheme. Under this plan, 22,000 square meters of land are to be acquired. By the end of March, the Collector’s Office has received the proposal from the Municipal Corporation. Maval and Khed sub-divisional officers have been appointed for the said work.”

Earlier, Fadnavis had said that the required space should be given to the Municipal Corporation within one month. He also said that if there is any problem, a meeting will be held with him. After that immediately, Divisional Commissioner Rao and Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh held a meeting and ordered the administration to take over the place.
