Pune : Anti-Trafficking Operation Exposes Prostitution Business at “Raya Ayurveda Spa” in Wakad
Wakad, 12th October 2023 – In a significant crackdown on human trafficking, the Anti Trafficking Cell of Pimpri Chinchwad exposed a prostitution racket operating under the guise of an “Ayurveda Spa” at the Vision One Mall in Wakad. This operation took place on Wednesday, the 11th of this month, at approximately 6:30 p.m.
The illicit establishment, known as “Raya Ayurveda Spa,” had been allegedly exploiting vulnerable women. A female police officer filed a complaint at the Wakad police station in the matter.
According to the officials, they had received credible information that a prostitution operation was clandestinely thriving within the premises of the Vision One Mall. To corroborate the claims, a sting operation was set up within the Raya Ayurveda Spa. Undercover officers posed as clients and the operation moved forward once suspicions were validated.
Pradeep alias Janvi Shankar Jadhav, a spa manager hailing from the area of Wakad, the owners of the spa identified as Prashant Ramchandra Sonwane from Chousala, Beed, and Sachin Ratan Kedari, also from Wakad, are among the individuals apprehended by police in the matter. They have been booked for their alleged involvement in the prostitution racket operating under the disguise of an Ayurveda Spa.
Investigations have revealed that the accused had reportedly lured vulnerable women with monetary promises, subsequently exploiting them in the prostitution trade under the ruse of offering spa services. This operation ultimately resulted in the rescue of two women victims from the clutches of the arrested accused.
