Erandwane, 23rd January 2024: In a significant development, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) successfully conducted a trap operation, apprehending Police Sub Inspector Ganesh Vasant Chavan and lawyer Rahul Jaisingh Phulsunder in connection with a bribery case.

The complainant, a 34-year-old male, lodged a complaint against PSI Ganesh Vasant Chavan (35), who is posted at Alankar Police Station, Pune City. The second accused in the case is lawyer Rahul Jaisingh Phulsunder, a 31-year-old resident of Kothrud, Pune.

The complainant reported a fraudulent case registered against his brother at Alankar Police Station. Subsequently, PSI Chavan allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹5,00,000, assuring non-arrest and assistance in the investigation. The complainant, seeking justice, approached the ACB.

Upon verification, it was discovered that lawyer Rahul Jaisingh Phulsunder was negotiating on behalf of PSI Chavan. Following negotiations, the lawyer accepted ₹40,000 as part of the bribe. This prompted the ACB to take swift action.

The ACB set the trap on January 22 (Monday) leading to the arrest of lawyer Phulsunder as he accepted the bribe amount.

Superintendent of Police (ACB) Amol Tambe urged citizens to promptly report any instances of government officers or employees demanding bribes for services other than legitimate government fees. He emphasized the toll-free helpline, 1064, as a means for citizens to contact the ACB.
