Wadgaon Maval, 1st August 2024: The Andra Valley Dam in Wadgaon Maval, Pune, has reached its full capacity of 82.75 Thousand Million Cubic Feet (TMC) following recent heavy rains in the Maval area. As the dam is gateless, water is being discharged through the spillway at a rate of 210 cubic feet per second (cusecs). This release is causing a rise in the water level of the Indrayani River, which flows from the dam.

The water discharge rate may increase if rainfall and water inflow into the dam continue to rise. The Maharashtra Irrigation Department has issued a warning to residents to avoid the riverbed and to relocate any materials or animals from the area. Citizens are advised to exercise caution and stay away from the river due to the rising water levels.

The ongoing release of water from the dam could lead to further increases in river levels, making safety precautions essential.
