Pune: Andekar Gang Attacks Members of Rival Gang, Three Men Detained By Police

Nana Peth, 3rd October 2023: A gang war erupted in various localities of Pune yesterday evening, leaving two people seriously injured. The incident occurred as a result of a dispute over territorial dominance between the Andekar gang and the Suraj Thombre gang. The police have detained three suspects in connection with the attack.

Nikhil Akhade, 29, and Aniket Dudhbhate, 27, both residents of Ambegaon Pathar, Dhankawadi, were attacked by members of the Andekar gang. 

According to the police, the victims are friends of Somnath Gaikwad, an accomplice of Suraj Thombre. The attack took place as Akhade and Dudhbhate were heading towards Ashok Chowk from Shitala Devi Mandir Chowk in Ganesh Peth. The assailants used a sharp weapon in the attack, leaving both men seriously injured.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police rushed to the scene. The injured were immediately admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

Senior Police Inspector Suresh Shinde of Samarth Police Station confirmed that the three assailants who had initially escaped were later detained. An FIR has been registered against them.

The police are currently investigating the motive behind the attack and the extent of the enmity between the two gangs.
