Pune: All Schools, Colleges, Coaching Classes Closed Till February 28, Hotels And Restaurants To Close At 11 PM

Pune, February 21, 2021: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar reviewed the Corona situation in Pune district including Pune city and Pimpri-Chinchwad today at Council Hall. MLAs as well as PMC, PCMC Commissioners, police officials were present during the meeting.

Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao said that in the last 10 days the positivity has increased to 10 percent from four percent. “We have decided to intensify Corona prevention measures. Till February 28, all schools, colleges and coaching classes have been closed. Further decision will be taken after reviewing the situation. Also, hotels and restaurant will be closed at 11 pm from February 22. The third decision is that people should not come out of home between 11 pm and 6 am for non-essential work”, Rao.

Also, at the Taluka level COVID Care Centres will be re-started to provide immediate treatment to patients in the rural areas.

He further said, “Considering the crowd at the wedding ceremony or other ceremony, it has been decided to impose strict restrictions on it and only 200 people have to attend the wedding/ceremony, otherwise legal action will be taken. At present, there is no restriction on inter-district travel.”

Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol said, “Although the number of patients with COVID19 is increasing, it is under control. So there is no immediate thought of implementing a lockdown. However, a decision is being taken soon to implement a micro containment zone in places where positive patients are found.”

The divisional commissioner said that traders at Mandai/Marketyard will not face any problem while transporting their goods. Also, a meeting will be held with the hotel association on February 22 (Monday).

“We are also intensifying COVID vaccination for the healthcare and frontline workers”, Rao said.

Corona cases in Pune: With the addition of 849 fresh Coronavirus positive yesterday, the total number of COVID cases has reached 3,97,431 in Pune district. Also, 534 patients got discharged from hospitals while six people died.

Dr Bhagwan Pawar, District Health Officer (DHO), said that out of total 3,97,431 patients 3,81,754 have been cured and discharged from hospitals, while 9177 people have died. There are still 6669 active patients undergoing treatment in different hospitals, also out of 6669, 4054 are Home Isolated. Most of the patients are from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area. Till now 22,32,492  people have been tested in the district.

The 3,97,431 patients include 19,73,30  from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area, 1,02,900 from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), 7084 from Cantonment areas, 69,878 are from Rural areas, and 20,239  from municipal council (Nagar Parishad) areas in the district.
