Pune: Alandi Groom Duped of Rs 2.5 Lakh by Bride with Hidden Past Marriage

Alandi, 11th July 2024: In Alandi, Pune District, a groom was deceived of Rs 2.5 lakh by a bride who concealed her previous marriage. Four people, including the bride, have been arrested, and a case has been filed at the Alandi Police Station under the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC).

The deception came to light after the groom posted wedding photos on his WhatsApp status, prompting villagers to reveal the scam involving the bride and her accomplices. According to police reports, the bride, originally from Mumbai’s Vile Parle, had previously been married to a man from Dahiwadi in Satara District.

Despite knowing about her previous marriage, agents representing the woman and men took Rs 2.5 lakh from the complainant under the guise of arranging the marriage. The marriage took place in Alandi on the 4th of July.

After the wedding, the accused demanded more money and threatened not to let the bride leave with the groom unless paid. Succumbing to pressure, the groom handed over the money.

Days later, when the groom shared his marriage status on WhatsApp, villagers who knew about the bride’s past marriage contacted him and disclosed the truth. Upon verification, the groom confirmed the villagers’ claims and reported the matter to Alandi Police Station, leading to the arrests and an ongoing investigation.
