Pune: Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Sammelan Gears Up for Centenary Celebration in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri, 29th December 2023: The vibrant city of Pimpri-Chinchwad is set to host the 100th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Sammelan, marking a historic moment in the realm of Marathi theatre. Scheduled for January 6th and 7th, 2024, the prestigious event is currently underway at the Morya Gosavi Sports Complex, where preparations have entered an accelerated phase.

This centenary meeting holds special importance in the trajectory of Akhil Bharatiya Natya Sammelan, symbolizing a century of artistic excellence and cultural enrichment. The theatre conference is poised to feature programs across the state, showcasing the diversity and creativity inherent in Marathi drama.

Despite a week-long delay in the work of the main hall, the organizers ensure that preparations are in full swing. According to Bhausaheb Bhoir, President of Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad Pimpri-Chinchwad branch, 50 per cent of the work in the main assembly halls has been completed. The entire infrastructure for the meeting venues is slated for completion by January 1.

The main auditorium, measuring an impressive 60 feet by 80 feet, is under construction. Notably, a dedicated children’s stage is being set up to host programs tailored for the younger audience. The enthusiasm surrounding the event has spurred a rapid pace in the preparations, ensuring a grand and memorable celebration.

The 100th convention promises a rich array of theatrical presentations, spanning the main assembly hall and various theatres such as Prof. Ramakrishna More Natyagruha (Chinchwad), Natsamrat Nilu Phule Natyagruh (Sangvi), GD Madgulkar Sabhagruha (Pradhikaran), Ankushrao Landge Natyagruha (Bhosari). The lineup includes popular commercial plays, children’s plays, remarkable one-act plays, experimental plays, Sangeet Rajini, and musical plays.

To ensure the seamless execution of the event, Commissioner Shekhar Singh has instructed officers to coordinate efforts and provide necessary facilities. Emphasis is placed on increasing citizen participation, and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is set to organize various programs in its halls, offering suitable amenities for attendees and artists.
