Pune, 25th October 2024: Pune Airport, operated by the AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services (AAICLAS), a 100% subsidiary of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), achieved a significant milestone by handling over 100 metric tons (MT) of cargo in outbound shipments within a single day. This remarkable achievement places Pune as the first non-metro airport under AAICLAS and eighth in India to surpass 100 MT of cargo movement in a 24-hour period.

This accomplishment underscores Pune Airport’s growing role as a major cargo hub in western India, driven by seamless operations and coordination between airlines, cargo handlers, and stakeholders. The wide variety of goods handled included industrial products, automotive parts, pharmaceuticals, agricultural produce, and perishable items, highlighting the strong economic presence of Pune across multiple sectors.

Commenting on this achievement, Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke said, “This is a proud moment for Pune Airport, reflecting the region’s expanding cargo potential and our commitment to operational excellence. We are grateful to our partners and customers for their trust, and we look forward to continuing this momentum.”

The milestone was largely driven by increasing demand for air logistics services from Pune’s key industries, including manufacturing and pharmaceuticals, which rely on timely deliveries to both domestic and international markets. Enhanced infrastructure at Pune Airport, combined with AAICLAS’s focus on efficiency and quality service, has positioned it as a rising player in the air cargo sector.

Pune Airport also has plans to expand its cargo-handling capacity further, improving infrastructure and implementing advanced cargo management solutions to meet growing demand. These efforts aim to boost regional economic growth by providing faster, more reliable logistics services.

The airport’s achievement aligns with the government’s vision of enhancing logistics efficiency across the country. As Pune’s industrial and business landscape continues to grow, AAICLAS Pune Airport is set to play an increasingly vital role in facilitating cargo movement for industries both in India and abroad.
