Pune: Air Asia’s Assistant Manager Booked For Causing Death Of Airline Staffer By Negligence

Pune 2nd July 2023: The Pune City Police have booked an assistant manager of Air Asia Airline for allegedly causing death of an airline staffer who died after falling from a ladder at Pune Airport in April this year. The deceased’s wife has lodged a complaint at Vimantal Police Station in the matter.

Earlier on April 13, 2023, Vivian Anthony Dominic (33) a security officer working with Air Asia died after he fell from the ladder used by passengers to board and deboard the flight at Pune Airport. The city police had registered an accidental death case in the matter. However, they have now registered an FIR following a complaint by deceased’s wife and an assistant manager of the Air Asia S Ajay Hariprasad has been booked under section 304(a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The complainant in her complaint has alleged that the accused assistant manager did not provide the safety equipment needed for the job to her husband causing his death after he fell from the ladder. She has alleged that the workers were not provided safety belt, helmet and safety jackets. She has also alleged that the accused did not provide her detailed information about the incident when she came to take her husband’s body at a hospital in Pune.

 

After completing the final rites and rituals of the deceased in Tamilnadu, the complainant approached city police to lodge an FIR in the matter. “We have registered a case following a complaint by deceased’s wife and we are investigating further in the matter” said police.

 

“We regret to inform you that one of our personnel lost his life while performing his duties at the Pune airport. At this point, our immediate focus is on providing the family with all the support needed. We will conduct a thorough investigation and work with the authorities to determine the cause and ensure gaps are bridged. Our guests’ and employees’ health and safety is our primary priority in all our operations” Air Asia had said in a statement when the incident took place in April this year.
